Sowing and Reaping... by Casey Palacious Chantha Gilbert spoke an uplifting message about REAPING WHAT WE SOW. The message came out of Galatians 6:7-10; Don't be misled. Remember that you can't ignore God and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow! Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the spirit will harvest everlasting life from the spirit. So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. When ever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters. You will be ignoring God if you run away from the calling that he has on your life. But you can't run from God's will. Example when the fish swallowed Jonah when he was running from where God wanted him to be. By doing God's will, doing what is right, and reaping good, you will get good. What you do in the dark will come to the light. You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You don't pick grapes from thorn-bushes, or figs from thistles. A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree of a person is by the kind of fruit that it produces.( Matthew 7:16-20) Sow good seeds and you shall get good things. Lets do what is right and not be selfish with God because he is not selfish with us. Praise him with not only your money, but with your talents, and time as well. In Proverbs 22:9 the word says, "Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor." Love is the ban of perfection so lets live to love, Christians need each other so lets build each other up not bring down. You sow LOVE you reap LOVE. Who Do People Say that I Am? by Brandi Prather The message comes from Matthew 16:13-17 when Jesus asked his disciples “Who do people say the Son of Man is.” That was in Caesarea Philippi, a place of false worship; their culture had a false view of who Jesus really was. The same has occurred in our society when people believe Jesus is okay with their sinful ways. We need to change our view of who Jesus really is. There are three steps to making this change: 1. Recognize false truth Realize that we cannot turn to our culture to define who Jesus really is because their perception will be crucially wrong; instead we should turn to the Bible. 2. Confession of Truth Just like Peter we need to confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ really is. He is “the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 3. Live according to what is true The last step is the most challenging but it is the most rewarding. We must live a lifestyle corresponding to the Gospel and complete the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16. On Sowing and Reaping... by Emerson Auguste Guest Speaker Pastor Andres Montesino and Senior Associate Pastor at Church of All Nations preached last Thursday at the Edge on the principle of sowing and reaping. The idea of sowing and a resulting reaping is presented various times in the Bible. The period that represents sowing is often long and requires persistency and daily commitment. That push some to cut down to the harvest, thus neglecting to sow. Examples of such practices are present in our society. It is the "i-want-it-now" mentality... We want the blessings without obedience. Reaping without sowing may be possible at times in the natural but it never works in the spiritual life. Sowing always precedes the sowing. Pastor Montesino asked two important questions: "What kind of harvest do you want to have? What kind of seed are you sowing?" If we want to know the harvest we will reap, we must take a look at the seed we are sowing. Every day, we are sowing something. Rev. Montesino also submitted four important points: 1. Avoid being deceived The problem about deception is that it is deceiving. Don't trust your senses! Trust your GPS, i.e. your Bible. It contains all the directions we need to live our life the right way. Truth is not found in one person; it is the Word of God. Some Christians often go to this church service or that church service seeking a Word from the Lord. But the latest Word from God is in the Word of God (the Bible). We must embrace, study, meditate and obey the Word of God. And the Holy Spirit shall guide us through the Truth. 2. Understand that no one can mock God 3. Take good care of the sowing We ought to make sure to plant good seeds. Life is always on the side of God. 4. The harvest will follow in time The harvest comes to you... Upon the conclusion of his message, Pastor Andres Montesino invited the people to come to the altar and he prayed over them. |
